Water Arceus Box
Deck Primer
Counter meta with meta!
The current Pokemon TCG meta is, well... chaotic. You have Charizard ex here and then five minutes later you're losing to a Gardevoir ex. There is so many good decks going around and well... something has to at least try to have a good chance against all of them. So this is my best attempt to fight against the current meta... with a (kinda) meta deck.
How to play this deck
This deck is a variant of Arceus VSTAR. Arceus VSTAR is an extremely powerful card that can be used in pretty much every deck. According to LimitlessTCG.com, there are currently 35 different variants of Arceus VSTAR, and those are only ones that have gotten a few wins in big tournaments.
Alright, now I'm going to try to explain most of the Pokemon in this deck and explain why it's here.
1. Arceus VSTAR
I've already explained some about this card, but not why it is in this deck.
Its VSTAR Power is the most consistent power for a boost when you need it but mostly for early-game consistency. Its attack can do lots of damage while charging up the Pokemon on your bench. It also has a decent 280 HP which can tank a hit from most powerful attackers, such as Charizard ex.
2. Crabominable V
Crabominable V is here to outmill mills while being an OK attacker. It's mainly here for matchups against stall or mill decks (specifically Snorlax Stall.) Eventually while playing Snorlax Stall they will just draw then immediately pass, and if you get Crabominable V attacking against that, you can outmill them with it's first attack, or against any other matchups you can finish them off with Destroyer Punch if your active gets knocked out.
3. Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX
Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX is here to knock out some dangerous threats. The main counter to this deck is Miraidon ex, which you have a few routes you can follow to counter that.
Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX is here to knockout pretty much everything in that deck. It can tank a hit from every attacker in that deck unless they are running something something less common such as Regieleki VMAX. It's second attack will knock out Miraidon or any other threats under 250 HP. It's first attack is okay and works best against Lost Box..
4. Alolan Vulpix VSTAR
Alolan Vulpix VSTAR is also great against Miraidon ex, countering other threats in the deck like Raikou V. It plays great against Lost Box or any other decks that run a heavy amount of Pokemon with abilites, like Charizard ex. It's VSTAR Power is okay if you can't get Arceus VSTAR up fast enough and need a last resort.
5. Starmie V
Starmie V is here to prevent your opponent from attaching too much energy to their Pokemon. There is no specific deck it is here to counter, but works well against some threatening decks.
6. Suicune V
Suicune V is here as a small draw mechanic and another attacker. It's attack works like Ice Rider Calyrex VMAX's first attack but better, capable of 220 damage and it's ability serves as a small draw mechanic.
Summary
I made this deck to try and make a counterbox featuring strong Pokemon that can counter big meta decks. I hope you enjoy, and all feedback is welcome!
