Sylveon VMAX Rapid Strike Box w/ Eternatus (final ver)
Deck Primer
Here's my final version of Sylveon Vmax w/Eternatus box. This deck loves going first but has some spare backup options for going second. This deck is great for you if:
- You like having more than one main boss monster
- You like decks with more than one type
- You love options
This is a rapid strike deck I brainstormed up when playing on the ladder, I was bored of seeing the same old decks, I wanted some spice. It gave me lots of wins and even gave me a 10 win streak, which I was very surprised because if you ever end up picking this deck, you will see it's quite chaotic but when it works, it works. Here is how the strategy usually plays out.
Strategy: Quickly pumping out pokemon to exploit any weakness of your opponents deck (whether that mean literallly or strategically). For example, Miraidon box is very weak to Urshifu and doesn't usually run manaphy, which most of the time is a free win (make sure you set up two Urshifus). Another example is I usually use Blaziken Vmax against lost box as your one hit most of their mons and they struggle to one shot you, so you can cheryl and keep swinging.
Turn setup:
On your turn one, (preferred you go first), and you get an ultra ball/eternatus, set up any basic mons first then attatch energy, and finally eternatus, and set up either Urshifu Vmax, Sylveon Vmax, or Blaziken Vmax. Urshifu Vmax should be priority, as it has many uses against the current meta. If you go second though, set up your board as usual, but you probably won't need to try to dig for Eternatus, as unless your opponent is bricking, you usually won't use it unless you go first.
Explanation for 'interesting' picks:
Starmie V: Extremely good against Gardevoir, Miraidon, Arceus box, and Lugia Vstar. Since Starmie is so frail, it's best to bench it and try to go for the Melony attachment so you can immediatly swing with it, but I have used it in the past as bait for gusts so I can keep some of my Rapid Strike mons alive for another day.
Cyclizar: Probably the most cuttable card, or to cut down to one, but I find it very useful as a free retreat utility basic. Its type also provides damage for Sylveon Vmax. It's a great pivot for Gale thrusts or just to have a sacrifice in the active spot, plus it can draw two cards in times of desperation.
Drapion V: This mon is really only here for Mew but you can use it against Gardevoir. I found Starmie V better suited for Garde, but Drapion can be clutch if you prized Starmie.
Empoleon V: Makes lost box scoop. Even with the thousands of escape ropes they play, they usually have to dig for any kind of gust to move it out of the way. It can also be a little handy for cards like Cel Mew.
Matchups and Matchup Guide:
Lost Box: Very favored. Your Cylizar and Octillery might suffer, but because of Cheryl and big Vmax HP numbers, they can't really outpace you is what I find. You might struggle with Goodra and Giratina variants, but I found Urshifu Vmax to be great to slow their game plan down by knocking out their Comfey. If they bench manaphy, usually Blaziken wins against them anyways as Blaziken can knock out most of their threats which also being a prime target for Cheryl. Honestly, I usually had most lost box players scoop against me.
Gardevoir EX: Probably your toughest matchup. You'll want to keep Starmie V in play as long as possible. Also do not evolve any of your Vmaxes unless you find that you are outpacing your opponent, as Garde usually plays sky seal stone which is game over for this deck. Empoleon V is also a viable attacker. If you don't mind the risk of setting up Urshifu Vmax early, you can try wiping their Kirlias/Ralts in play to slow them down.
Miriadon EX: You win. Even with the Regileki Vmax build (choice belt knocks out Regileki Vmax), you can kind of demolish Miraidon by setting up two Urshifu vmaxes and going for a gale thrust every turn. I have never struggled against this deck, maybe if you brick, but I usually never have a problem with Miriadon.
Lugia Vstar: Can be a back and forth, however since the list uses SS Urshifu Vmax, you can exploit this with Sylveon Vmax, in addition to not being weak to Tyranitar V. Starmie V is amazing late game to purge Lugia Vstar, so you will want to keep that as a backup.
Arceus Vstar Box : Rough matchup, but so long as you don't brick, you can pressure them with Sylveon Vmax or Blaziken Vmax. Urshifu Vmax can be good to wipe out their Arceus Vstar, but isn't the best for bench sniping, so try to only Gale Thrust with it. Again, Starmie V is wonderful in this matchup for big poke potential.
Mew Vmax: Favored, but don't underestimate Mew. Sylveon Vmax and Mew Vmax clash with each other so try to setup that while you fetch your Drapion V. Once Drapion V is in play it's usually over for Mew, no matter what deck Drapion is in. Blaziken Vmax is also stellar for wiping Genesects from play. Also, please do not evolve Urshifu Vmax, you won't need it in this matchup.
Goodra/Giratina Lost Box: Same strategy as above regarding lost box, but just try to chip with Urshifu Vmax. Sylveon Vmax is your weakpoint for Giratina, since it has 310 hp which is the damage number Giratina can hit. The matchup is favored though as you can usually target their comfeys and other lower hp mons to slow them down.
Any Control Variant: As for any control deck, only having 1-2 Pokemon in play usually wins games. Since control relies on trapping your mons to mill, I find Blaziken Vmax to be great since if they hit heads on hammers you can just reattatch all your energy anyways. Also, using minimal resources can save you against deck out.
If you have any more questions about this deck, please comment below and I will try @ 'ing you as soon as I can. I go by my username on most handles. Thanks for checking out this deck and I appreciate if you read this far! This deck is truly fun and it might not be any Mew Vmax or Lugia Vstar in their prime days, it's certainly a fast force to be reckoned with.
