Deck Primer
Base Neo format decklist. Original build credit for this decklist goes to Jason Klaczinski on his blog at Jklaczpokemon.com
"Special Energy is ubiquitous in the Base–Neo format, so Light Golduck’s Core Blast can do some major damage. Noctowl’s Glaring Gaze and No Removal Gym will work together to protect your Light Golduck from Super Energy Removal, allowing you to repeat this deadly attack."
This deck is actually insanely good and very fun to play. If you like disrupting your opponent's hand constantly, and therefore their strategy, this is the deck for you! Rocket's Sneak Attack and Noctowl's Glare allow you to look at your opponent's hand and force them to shuffle a trainer card from it back into their library, AND Noctowl's Pokemon Power Stacks! Meaning if you have 3 of them in play, you can remove up to 3 trainers from your opponent's hand! Disgusting! Combine that with Golduck's ability to one-shot most of the format completely unresisted and you have a pretty strong recipe for success. With special energy like Double Colorless, Metal, Darkness, Recycle, and Rainbow Energy all existing in some capacity in every Base-Neo deck (many play exclusively specials)- Light Golduck was MADE for this format!
All of the hand disruption is only made even worse to play against by Psyduck's ability to spam Headache if your opponent doesn't have a baby Pokemon in play! If they don't, feel free to play your trainers and set up Noctowls on the bench while you Headache your opponent into a hand full of trainers they can't play! Most deck compositions are 50% or more in just trainers, so the odds of denying your opponent multiple turns in a row while you roam free is surprisingly high. Once you have a couple Noctowls in play, start stripping the best trainers from their hand until you feel ready to start spanking their Pokemon with a Chaos or No Removal Gym protected Golduck. You can also at that point end your tyranny with a Lass, and set your opponent back so many cards and turns- it'll make their head spin! Seriously, try this- its insane how well this strategy can work. Imagine effectively still being on turn 1 or 2 while your opponent has a full field of Pokemon and energy! Gross
