Deck Primer
Base Fossil format decklist. This 'Haymaker' style build looks to keep constant pressure on your opponent by setting up 2 Dodrio and rotating freely between Electabuzz, Hitmonchan and format superstar: Clefable while threatening solid damage with a single Energy. This aggressive and consistent deck can operate almost entirely on a single energy, rendering Super Energy Removal sub-optimal and Energy Removal laughable.
The high density of Professor Oaks has a very specific purpose in this list: getting the deck online quickly. 4 copies of Oak are to make sure you can set up an ideal bench scenario with a high probability to see one in the first few turns. An ideal bench and active setup would be: 1-2 Hitmonchan, 1-2 Clefable, 1-2 Electabuzz, 1-2 Dodrio. This allows you to easily maneuver your bench around with cheap or free retreat cost to keep your opponent on their toes, changing typing often to gain advantage. Once you are set up or close to set up, it is time to keep the pressure on your opponent with damage and Gust of Winds. Often you will not need to draw deeper into your library and should instead seek to get as far as you can with your setup, preserving resources and your library size to avoid decking out.
Be sure to keep an eye on quantities of cards remaining in your Library, as this deck runs a wide breadth of tools- but often only a copy or two. You will need access to these tools sometimes multiple times, so make sure you are not too greedy with Oaks and discarding tools you may never see again. Also it should be noted that with 4x Oaks, decking yourself is very easy to do- EXTRA emphasis on not being greedy, as it will almost certainly cost you the game.
Fade Runner pilots should switch active Pokemon often to attempt swinging every matchup in their favor. Complete with a triangle of typing that includes Clefable's ability to clean up format monsters like Mewtwo, this deck so far performs very well against the meta (primarily only having problems out-trading Haymaker and occasional bumps against good stall lists).
