Aggressive GengarV - Mew who?
Deck Primer
::DECK OF THE DAY::Aggressive deck where you start knocking out the opponent's Pokemon using Gengar V by turn 2. Right from the start, go all in with your Gengar V's! You want to win quickly... not the best for the long haul but a perfect hand can set you up for one. Get quick energy with Houndoom and stay tanky with Abomasnow. Has done well against meta decks and has made many Mews(You def want to go first to almost ensure the upper hand against Mew) decks leave since they are weak to Darkness which makes for EZ 1 shots with 2 Energy and Path to the Peak to stall.
**DECK FOR POST-ROTATION STANDARD FORMAT**
An ideal start would be Gengar V in active with Houndour and Snover benched. The deck has many ways to search to make this happen for turn 1. Search for Houndoom and Abomasnow asap! Houndoom for searching your First Strike Energy (which provides +20 damage each) and Abomasnow to give you that phat +50 HP to all your Pokemon. Note: depending on your situation, you can play the whole game with just Gengar V, no need to evolve. Gengar V's first ability has nice damage with First Strike energy(Can double up First Strike Energy on first attack turn) and can sleep! but of course, RNG BABY so hopefully you win the coin toss and they stay asleep. Gengar V's second ability(Pain Explosion) is HUGE damage and can 1 shot V & EX Pokemon like Arcanine 280HP with Strike Energies attached. Don't worry about damaging yourself with Pain Explosion.. with Abomasnow, you can take hits. You can use 2 Houndoom's in the same turn to attach 2 Strike Energies on 1 Gengar V(that's +40 Damage ez). Urn of Vitality searches for your Strike Energies from the discard pile back to the deck which makes for great recycling for Houndoom's to Gengar. SO, not the worst thing if you discard Strike Energies to retreat a badly injured Gengar so you can 3 Energy a new Gengar in the SAME attacking turn!! Example: 2 Houndooms give the new Gengar (after using Urn) 2 Strike Energies and another Energy(Strike or Basic) from hand if one is available. REMEMBER to use Urn before Houndoom-ing to not waste the activation for the turn.
Many ways to search for whatever card you need but a couple do depend on coin tosses(Aroma, Cramo-o-matic) so ya know...RNG! You will have huge draw potential and search once combos start flowing. Remember to discard a (if you no longer need to use)Pokemon to draw with Tower of Darkness since all Pokemon are Single Strike. Sometimes, it's better to leave your Path to the Peak up and leave the opponent to stall while you draw what you need.
You don't ALWAYS need to evolve your Gengar V to VMAX. Don't be afraid to use VMAX for Tower of Darkness for more draws. VMAX is mostly for the second ability for a super nuke IF necessary but you can win using only the Gengar V. Of course if your opponent is massing V Pokemon... consider Evolving to VMAX because of VMAX first ability OR Evolve to increase your hp and survive a hit. Gengar VMAX is at 370HP with Abomasnow buff. OR OR evolve right before the final blow to win with style points ;) BM BM ik ik. Don't forget to stack up on your benched Gengar V's with Energy after your active is loaded up just in case you need to switch and can attack right away. Although Energy Switch is only at 1, boy-o-boy has that randomly come in handy for a knockout more often than you think but still nothing to super rely on... just some spice.
I'd say the biggest weakness is obviously, getting a bricked hand AND Gengar V being 2 prize cards worth so if you don't have the advantage.. can be a quick game for you.
The deck has a lot of "DRAW" cards(prob too many) so maybe they can be switched out for whatever you may feel is more suitable/consistent.
New to PTCG, always open for suggestions!
