Sylveon VMAX: Tying the Ribbon Knot to Victory This time we are going to talk about a deck that may be a counter to most of all the meta out there. It’s Rapid Strike Box!

Hello guys, welcome back to another article at pokemoncard.io!

This time we are going to talk about a deck that may be a counter to most of all the meta out there. It’s Rapid Strike Box!

As you guys know, Sylveon VMAX is a strong card when there are many types of Pokémon in the Bench. So to cover the type variant, Rapid Strike Pokémon like Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX, Blaziken VMAX, and Octillery are being considered in this deck. Other than that, Pokémon like Crobat V, Oranguru, Kricketune V, or Galarian Moltres V is an option in this deck, too.

Before going further here are two examples of the deck.

  1. Deck Overview

As you can see, this deck revolves around Sylveon VMAX. With Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX is heavily played, Sylveon VMAX can be a solution since Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX is still looking for a foothold. Sylveon VMAX can do a lot since Sylveon V ability can find you an Item for your next turn. Blaziken VMAX is being played since it can recycle your discarded energy card and face Zacian V or Metal type deck. Rapid Strike Urshifu is played because of its attack ‘G-Max Rapid Flow’ can snipe 2 damaged Pokémon on the Bench or deal with Dark type deck. While Galarian Moltres V is played because of the heavily played Psychic deck like Dragapult VMAX & Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX.

  1. Setting Up the Board

I’ve played this deck and what can I say is, you need to set at least 3 Pokémon in your turn 2. Sylveon V is a must to play since its abilities can help you so much. But Marnie sometimes disrupts it and you can be left bricked. That’s where Kricketune V or Oranguru comes in. Sometimes 1 card draw from your top deck can be a huge difference in a game. I also think that you need to set up Octillery as soon as possible because if you get bricked, you can still find Korrina’s Focus to help you draw. But Octillery can be sniped easily by Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX, so you need to keep that in mind.

  1. VS Zacian V/Metal Deck

Metal type is Sylveon’s weakness, so in order to cover that we bring a 2-2 Blaziken VMAX line. It is easy to set up, with 2 energy attachments or a single Rapid Strike Energy you can knock Zacian V easily. But here’s the tricky part, almost every metal deck brings at least 1 Zamazenta V to wall out VMAXs. That’s why we bring 2 ‘Path to the Peak’ cards, we bring that to nullify Zamazenta’s ability and try to hold Zacian’s fast-paced energy acceleration. Then Tool Scrapper is needed to discard Zacian/Zamazenta’s Cape of Toughness in order to knock it out.

  1. VS Dragapult VMAX variant

Dragapult VMAX is kind of a tricky enemy to deal with. Its energy disruption can be a pain in the head if the coin toss goes in the enemy’s favor. Its 5 damage counters snipe can also be a pain where it can knock Octillery or Oranguru any time. In order to deal with it, Blaziken VMAX can be a choice to recycle those energies back. Also, Galarian Moltres V can be a choice of attacker too since Dragapult VMAX’s weakness is Dark Type.

  1. VS Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX

The matchup with Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX can be a bit relaxing since Shadow Ride Calyrex VMAX needs to pile up some Psychic Energy to attack with. We bring 2 ‘Path to the Peak’ to shut down its Ability and Galarian Moltres V to deal with its weakness. This kind of matchup is bad when you priced all of your ‘Path to the Peak’ or if you can’t accelerate Galarian Moltres V fast enough.

  1. VS Suicune V variant

When facing Suicune V the main power you have is your HP since Suicune V is only dealing 220 damage. So in order to win, I think it’s best to accelerate as fast as possible. You also can try to snipe their Ludicolo but I don’t think it is worth the Prized Card since Suicune V can attack easily with a Melony combo. You can also hold your ground using Ribbon Badge since you can decrease the Prized Card your opponent will take. But in my opinion, this matchup will be win by someone who can deal damage as fast as possible.

  1. VS Decidueye/Altaria

I don’t need to explain this. You can win if the enemy is bricking so hard that you can knock all of their Rowlet or Swablu first before it can evolve to Decidueye or Altaria.

So what do you guys think, this deck can attack in so many ways. The Pokémon energy cost is fairly easy since Sylveon VMAX and Blaziken VMAX attack cost is Colorless Energy. Galarian Moltres V can accelerate with its ability and Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX can snipe the remaining damaged Pokémon or a basic non-V Pokémon.
