Pokemon ‘Scarlet’ and Pokemon ‘Violet’ Announced! These starters are adorable!

Pokemon ‘Scarlet’ and Pokemon ‘Violet’ have just been revealed by Pokemon for the next generation Pokemon video game in today’s Pokemon Direct. It reveals a trailer that contains footage of the game (not final) and alongside that, it also introduces 3 new Pokemon that will be the starters for this game. The game will be released in Late 2022 and there’s still no exact date.

There’s no information about the other Pokemon, but in the trailer, there’ll be Pokemon from another region like Pelipper, Stonjourner, etc. The trailer also introduces various scenic spots in the game and the game will be taking on a new region that will likely be inspired by Spain.

Also, by looking at the trailer, the game itself will likely be similar to Legends: Arceus in terms of gameplay. On their official website, they also state:

‘Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets—all over! You’ll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokémon series—battling against wild Pokémon in order to catch them—now in an open-world game that players of any age can enjoy.’

This means the game will likely be on the same/similar engine to Legends: Arceus but with further improvement. My guess here is there will be no more divided location per section (loading screen because changing places) because they state ‘seamlessly’ in their website.

Also looking at the trailer and official website, the game also introduces the main character who wears some kind of uniform that is quite similar across gender. However, there’s a colour difference in their clothing based on their game. Pokemon ‘Scarlet’ main character’s clothing will be bright and scarlet, while Pokemon ‘Violet’ main character’s clothing will be more pale and violet.

It is also stated that these games can also connect to Pokemon HOME making it possible to transfer Pokemon from other regions. But this may be limited for some Pokemon in the early release.

It is quite surprising that Pokemon revealed a new game with only a month gap after Legends: Arceus releases. But by looking at it, the game itself looks promising because it looks like the gameplay will be similar to Legends: Arceus (apart from the plot). As of now, there’s no information for the TCG set. My prediction is that the TCG set will be introduced around Winter alongside the game release.
