Pokemon officially revealed their new upcoming set, Obsidian Flames, as part of the Scarlet & Violet era. This set will be released on August 11, 2023, with over 190 cards. This set will possibly include cards from the Japanese ‘Pokemon Card 151’, ‘ex Start Deck’, and other unreleased English cards.

Set Description

The upcoming Scarlet & Violet—Obsidian Flames expansion will introduce type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex to the Pokémon TCG, where certain Tera Pokémon ex cards will feature a different Energy type. For example, Trainers will see Charizard ex as a Darkness type versus its usual Fire type, as well as Tyranitar ex as a Lightning type versus its usual Fighting type or Darkness type. When attacking, type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex will use the same Energy as their usual type; however, they will have a different Weakness that corresponds with their shifted type. These cards will also follow the same rules as normal Pokémon ex — when Knocked Out, the type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex gives up two Prize cards instead of one.

This Pokémon takes 30 less damage from attacks.

WW - Twin Cannon 140x

Discard up to 2 Basic Water Emergy from your hand. This attack does 140 damage for each card discarded this way.

Charizard ex

R - Brave Wing 60+

If this Pokémon has any damage counters on it, this attack does 100 more damage.

RRRR - Explosive Vortex 330

Discard 3 Energy from this Pokémon.

Clefable ex

Ability - Lunar Zone

Your Pokémon that have any Psychic Energy attached to them have no Retreat Cost.

PPP - Moon Wonder 170

You may move as many Psychic Energy attached to your Pokémon as you like to any of your other Pokémon.

Decidueye ex

Ability - Untethered

Once during your turn, you may use this Ability. If this Pokémon is on your Bench, you may switch it with your Active Pokémon. If this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, you may switch it with 1 of your Benched Pokémon.

GC - Hunting Arrow 130

This attack also does 30 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Houndoom ex

DD - Evil Claws 90

If the Defending Pokémon is a Basic Pokémon, it can't attack during your opponent's next turn.

DDD - Hound Fangs 220

This Pokémon also does 30 damage to itself.

Greninja ex

C - Covert Shuriken

This attack does 40 damage to 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

WW - Torrent Slash 120+

If your opponent's Active Pokémon has any damage counters on it, this attack does 120 more damage.

Jynx ex

WCC - Heartbreak Kiss

If your opponent's Active Pokémon is Asleep, it is now Knocked Out.

WWW - Icy Wind 120

Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Asleep

Koraidon ex

F - Splitting Beam 20

This attack also does 20 damage to 2 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

FFC - Gaia Press 230

This Pokémon also does 30 damage to itself.

M - Metal Absorption

Search your deck for 2 Basic Metal Energy cards and attach them to this Pokémon. Then, shuffle your deck.

CCCC - Full Metal Knuckle 90+

This attack does 30 more damage for each Metal Energy attached to this Pokémon.

Mew ex

Ability - Restart

Once during your turn, you may draw cards until you have 3 cards in your hand.

CCC - Genome Hack

Choose 1 of your opponent's Active Pokémon's attacks and use it as this attack.

What do you guys think of this new English set? I really look forward to this set because I think this set will be a great set for collectors because there will probably 2 Charizard ex both Tera and non-Tera. You will probably also get another Pokemon ex from Pokemon Card 151 and a whole lot of Illustration Rare cards. I can’t wait for this product to be released!
