Pokemon Card Game Japan has revealed Koraidon ex SAR, Miraidon ex SAR, Spidops ex SAR, Tarountula AR, and Armarouge AR as part of the upcoming Scarlet ex and Violet ex sets, which will be available on January 20, 2023, for 180 yen per Booster Pack. Both sets will contain 78 cards before any SR, UR, HR, or other rarities.
The ex-mechanic will be reintroduced in this set. The ex-mechanic is identical to the other Rule Box Pokemon in that if your Pokémon gets knocked, you will receive additional Prize cards. The ex-mechanic differs in that it must evolve from a regular Pokemon (if it is an Evolution Pokemon).
In this set, Art Rare (AR) and Special Art Rare (SAR) are back! Art Rare and Special Art Rare are first introduced in VSTAR Universe which is similar to Character Rare and Character Super Rare but has no Trainer in the artwork.

Koraidon ex SAR
Ability - Dino Cry
Once during your turn, you may attach up to 2 Basic Fighting Energy cards from your discard pile to your Basic Fighting Pokemon in any way you like. If you use this Ability, your turn ends.
FFC - Wild Impact 220
During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t attack.
Miraidon ex SAR
Ability - Tandem Unit
Once during your turn, you may search your deck for 2 Basic Lightning Pokemon and put them onto your Bench. Then, shuffle your deck.
LLC - Photon Blaster 220
During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t attack.
Spidops ex SAR
Ability - Trap Territory
The Retreat Cost of your opponent's Active Pokémon is 1 Colorless more.
GC - Wire Hang 90+
This attack does 30 more damage for each Colorless in your opponent's Active Pokémon's Retreat Cost.
Tarountula AR
GC - String Shot 20
Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent’s Active Pokémon is now Paralyzed.
Armarouge AR
Ability - Fire Dispatch
As often as you like during your turn, you may move a Fire Energy from 1 of Benched Pokémon to your Active Pokémon.
RRC - Flame Cannon 90
Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Burned.
What do you guys think of the newly revealed cards? The design for both Miraidon ex and Koraidon ex are just too good! They really step up their game in this new era. I also like the design for Armarouge AR and I think it is a very fun connecting illustration for both Spidops ex and Tarountula. So far, there’s no confirmation on how many AR and SAR cards will there be in both sets. Let’s just hope that all of the ex Pokemon will have a SAR treatment.
