Hello guys and welcome back to another article on pokemoncard.io! Today I’m going to talk about a deck that maybe can be quite fun because of its ability. It’s Hoopa V!

Here’s an example of the deck:

This is just an example, if the deck didn’t work for you, you can try to experiment with it yourself and get comfortable with it.

Deck Overview

You can use Hoopa V, Galarian Moltres V, or even Genesect V to attack. The main thing here is Hoopa V since its ability allows it to have 2 types, Psychic and Darkness. With its ability, it can knock 2 types of decks in a tournament. But accelerating its energy can be quite troublesome.

Hoopa V

This is the star of the deck, with its ability, you are a 2 type Pokemon. With that, you can knock 2 different decks with different weaknesses. In this meta, Mew VMAX and Urshifu decks can be an easy feat for Hoopa V to knock. But with its 3 energies attack cost, setting things up can be quite hard. Its Grass Type Weakness is also a good sign since there’s less Grass Type deck right now than Fighting Type in the meta to be a significant threat to you.

Galarian Moltres V

This is your main energy accelerator, after using Gal. Moltres ability, you can use energy switch to move the energy to Hoopa V. Also, you can just use Galarian Moltres V to attack. 190 damage is an auto knock out to Mew VMAX.

Genesect V

This is your main drawer engine. You can also attack with it, but with 2 Metal Energies and 1 Colorless as its attack cost, it is a bit hard to achieve. But with the help of Elesa’s Sparkle, it can be achievable. You want to play at least 2 of these on your board to help you draw.

Trainers

I try to play 4 copies of Elesa’s Sparkle before but when I already use 1 of them, the rest seems a bit useless to me. So I cut it down to 3, maybe you guys can try to play 4 copies of it. Also, I don’t get set back if I don’t get it on my first turn since I can try to use Genesect V or Pokegear to find it

4 copies of Peony is a must for me if I want to play Genesect V as my main drawer.

Battle VIP Pass is a conditional item since you can only use it on your first turn.

Circhester Bath and Cape of Toughness is the defense item here since you are playing only with Pokemon V.

Rotom Phone and Pokegear is an option here, you can try to play Cram-o-matic instead.

Other than that, you guys can try by adding or reducing the amount of some cards.

Matchup

Since this is a 2-prize deck, your pace needs a bit quick so you can survive the opponent’s VMAX Pokemon attack. You want to at least set up 2 Genesect V since it can help you draw more cards.

Facing Mew VMAX deck right now is a 50-50 chance in my opinion. Why? Because if you get the right card, you can slow them down by disrupting them. In the meantime, you can try to accelerate your Hoopa V with energies so it can attack Mew VMAX quickly. But if not, the pace of Mew VMAX can overwhelm you very quickly.

Then, this deck is not facing huge issues if you are facing sniping decks like Jolteon VMAX. But if they bring Path to the Peak, it can be a huge problem since it will shut down Genesect V ability.

Disruption can be a bit of a problem too since you can only use Gal. Moltres V’s ability once per turn.

Other than that, playing Genesect V really gives Fusion Strike decks consistency although sometimes the draw isn’t the one we need, it can get the job done.

Other Possibilities?

Another way you can play the Hoopa V deck is by playing Hydreigon. Yes, it is a stage 2 Pokemon, but by having Genesect V at least we can manage that out although you get less draw. Also, because of its ability, you can easily charge your Hoopa V in a single turn.

Conclusion

So what do you guys think? Hoopa V may be an answer if you want to beat Mew VMAX right now. But you need to make sure to charge your Hoopa V fast enough. This deck is fun, but I don’t get quite the hang of it. You guys can experiment with this deck as well to make it work better.
