Pokemon officially revealed more cards that will be included in the upcoming Scarlet & Violet set including Gardevoir ex Illustration Rare, Dolliv Illustration Rare, and Magnezone ex. This set will be released on March 31, 2023, with over 190 cards and possibly reaching over 250 cards. In this set, Pokemon will introduce a new mechanic called Pokemon ex which is quite similar to the old Pokemon ex where you can evolve or have a more powerful version of certain Pokemon. You will also encounter a Tera Pokemon ex where you will get an extra Terastal ability that makes you immune to damage when you are on the bench.
Pokemon itself stated that there will be over 10 new Pokemon ex in the Scarlet & Violet set meaning that there will be so many Pokemon ex that we can chase and some of them will have Illustration Rare rarity. Illustration Rare rarity is quite similar to our previous Galarian Gallery or Trainer Gallery rarity where you will have a full-art version of your card but not just plain color or gradient, but you will have an artwork version of your card.
Without further ado, here are the revealed cards:
Gardevoir ex
Ability - Psychic Embrace
As of as you like during your turn, you may attach a Basic Psychic Energy card from your discard pile to 1 of your Psychic Pokémon. If you attached Energy to a Pokémon in this way, put 2 damage counters on that Pokémon. You can’t use this Ability on a Pokémon that would be Knocked Out.
PPC - Miracle Force 190
This Pokemon recovers from all Special Conditions.
Magnezone ex
L - Energy Crush 50x
This attack does 50 damage for each Energy attached to all of your opponent’s Pokemon.
LL - Pulse Launcher 220
This Pokemon also does 30 damage to itself.
Dolliv
C - Slap 20
GC - Apply Oil 40
During your opponent's next turn, if the Defending Pokémon tries to attack, your opponent flips a coin. If tails, that attack doesn't happen.
Annihilape
F - Rage Fist 70x
This attack does 70 damage for each Prize cards the opponent has taken.
F - Dynamite Punch 170
This Pokémon also does 50 damage to itself.
Klefki
Ability - Mischievous Lock
As long as this Pokémon is in the Active Spot, Basic Pokémon in play (both yours and your opponent’s) have no Abilities, except for Mischievous Lock.
C – Joust 10
Before doing damage, discard all Pokémon Tools from your opponent's Active Pokémon.
What do you guys think of these cards? I’m pretty sure that you guys will like the Gardevoir ex Illustration Rare as Gardevoir ex itself is pretty playable in the upcoming format managing to get to the finals of the Aichi 2023 Champions League. On the other hand, Magnezone ex is quite a fun Pokemon to work around with where both of its attacks can be a very great attack. However, it is a stage-2 Pokemon and setting it up requires more resources than a Basic or stage-1 Pokemon. Klefki is also a very cheeky Pokemon to have as you can do disruptive gameplay by disabling all of the abilities of Basic Pokemon.
