[flame hyenard noises]
After falling off of the game for a while, I thought I'd come back and try a little Expanded - and where else to start but a tried and true Volcarona V deck? Made for Live Expanded, which allows cards going back to Sun and Moon base, this deck is both relatively cheap thanks to its large amount of Energy cards and performs well against a majority of the meta - even against anti-meta stall and mill decks.
The deck centers around using Volcarona's Surging Flames attack, which can do up to 340 damage for a single energy if every other energy is in the discard pile. This can be achieved by the myriad of discard support in the deck, namely Zebstrika and Dedenne-GX, allowing Volcarona to take OHKOs even on Pokemon VMAX. The deck is fairly self explanatory and easy to pilot, with the only real tech card being Marshadow-GX. The Gloomdweller Pokemon allows the deck to take KOs on Mimikyu (Paldean Fates), a common wall in stall decks which Volcarona is unable to damage, as well as hit high HP opponents like Dracozolt VMAX for weakness.
It might be possible to run Radiant Greninja for additional Energy discard, but I found that it just ate bench space which could go to another Zebstrika or Dedenne. I've also been deliberating over the inclusion of Giant Hearth over Pokestop, with the former being stronger in the late game but the latter helping to set up in the early game whilst having the possibility of discarding three energy for free.
As always, I'm happy to hear any feedback or questions on the deck :]
