Thank you!! :D
This deck is all about denying your opponent his right to play the game until deckout or concede from frustration/resignation. You just need to prevent him to KO your Pokemon while exhausting his resources. In other words, this is my take on Ditto Control! It is hard to master, but once you get the hang of it, it is really good. That's why I like it so much.
It has most of the cards you see in a classic Ditto Control, but let me explain my personal touch that makes it so awesome.
- Draw engine is Venusaur and Snorlax, which is actually enough since you have Serena and Bruno to complete the draw. I was playing without Venu at first but adding it made it way more consistent!
- Calyrex is a nice touch to help you out when you're in a pinch or when you trap a Pokemon in the active. When you manage to start the game with it, it makes your start so much smoother. And when you start with a bad hand, it can either help you or simply bait a Marnie to give you a better hand.
- Jynx is simply there to trap a Pokemon in the active. Even if it can attack, it will be confused so either you have 50% of surviving or it forces to switch burning resources or energies, which is exactly what you want
- Morpeko is obviously used to prevent the opponent's active to attack. Especially usefull for Pokemon like Blissey or Kyurem with only one attack and an high retreat cost
- I don't know why I never saw it in other Ditto decks, but Mawile is so so so much good. Sometimes, you can just Boss a benched Pokemon and spam Mawile's attack to prevent it to be retreated. It forces to dig to find a Switch/Rope and if there is none in the deck, it is an auto-win. Additionnaly, it increase the damage of the next attack by 90, which is really situational, but you could make use of that, who knows?
- Yveltal is obviously the perfect counter for Mew and Lugia. Be careful not to bench it with these matchup since the opponent can play Lost City. So don't forget to use it through Ditto. Against these matchups, you can simply spam Yvelta's attack everytime until the opponent runs out of energy.
- No need to speak about Eiscue, it blocks the attack of all basic Pokemon like Regi, Blissey, etc.
- Sandile's attack is here for the direct mill of your opponent's deck. Whenever you trap a Pokemon, use this attack to get rid of some cards of the opponent. Ultimately you want to make him deckout so if you can accelerate this, do it. Just be careful though to not use that carelessly since the attack costs 2 Double Energy. Use it only when you know you can do it more than one turn in a row.
- Unlike other decks I don't play Wash Energy. While it was useful to protect Manaphy and Eiscue against Lost Mine I opte for Aurora Energy to allow to attack with my next original idea!
Edit: I now play one Wash for Lost Box!
- Perrserker + Meowth. It is a recent addition to my deck but it makes it sooooo nice! First of all, Galarian Meowth is obviously used to discard Pokemon from my hand. That was an issue I often had. I had two or three Pokemon in my hand by I couldn't discard it. Galarian Meowth came to the rescue and now it makes the deck clearly more consistent. And now the surprise attacker: Perrserker! It is not a basic Pokemon so you can't use it with Ditto, but since Meowth is already in the deck, I couldn't ignore it. This card is a real surprise, you should never reveal it until you use it. Since Meowth has its own role in the deck, the opponent never see coming the Perrserker. Try to use it when the opponent is trapped since you can't reuse it after it is KO. With Perrserker, you can directly discard cards from your opponent's hand. Take the opportunity to discard an switching cards or drawing card and hopefully lock him. I recenly beated a Mew Vmax by discarding three of its Cross Switcher after trapping a Genesect. This card is definitively worth it!
- I only play one Pal Pad and one Cyllene, but that's because my main way for not decking out is Pidgeot V. This is the only V Pokemon in the deck but it shouldn't matter since when you bench it, you can just put in back in your deck, meaning it cannot be gusted and that you will never deckout (beware of Path to the Peak though!!). This also allows to use Forest Seal Stone to grab any one item!
Recent changes and possible enhancements:
- Big Parasol can be a threat to this deck, that's why I play Lost Vacuum. Adding another one could be an idea.
- I don't play Marnie, nor Judge to disrupt the hand. That could be an idea. But at the same time, when you trap the opponent and they can only draw each turn, you don't want to put back cards into the deck.
- I recently replaced Regieleki (Let you grab a Trainer card from your discard) by Calyrex. That was a personal preference, both of them are good, but I found out and barely used Regieleki so I changed it.
- I don't play Hammer to remove the energy. That was a decision I took because I didn't have enough place, but if you prefer, you could add it back. However, I don't really think it is really necessary.
-I have the exact same comment for Yell's Horn. It is useful, but I ended up to remove it. Mostly because I don't have a reliable pivot and I play Galar Mine so the Confusion is also affecting me negatively. To confuse, I have the option to go Jynx. But once again, it is only a matter of preference.
- Before I added Galarian Meowth in the deck, I was playing Collapsed Stadium as a counter for Regi and reducing the bench space for Mew, Lugi and other decks that fill their bench. Also useful when you cannot discard a Pokemon from your hand, you could just bench it and use Collapsed Stadium to discard it. In the end, it delt too situational and I decided to cut it. Another hard decision that is up to everybody.
If you have any other suggestions to improve the deck, don't hesitate, I'm constantly trying to imprive it. If I posted it today is simply because after a month of testing and modification, I'm now fully satisfied of it.
