Today I’m going to talk about a very fun deck to play but can also bring a lot of trouble to the opponent. This deck is inspired from [ポケ神チャンネル] YouTube channel, but I adjust it a little bit to fit my playstyle. It’s Stonjourner VMAX deck!

Here’s an example of the deck:

This is just an example, if the deck didn’t work for you, you can try to experiment with it yourself and get comfortable with it.

Deck Overview

In the early game, you want to play with only 1 Stonjourner VMAX. Then slowly heal your Pokemon while charging for its second attack.

Stonjourner VMAX

This is your only attacker… literally the sole attacker. You want to stack up Stonjourner VMAX with Stone Energy and Full Face Guard so you can have a big damage reduction.

Its first attack is the thing that we need to carefully calculate because it can heal you for 120HP but you need to have a Basic Fighting Energy in order to activate its effect.

The second attack is your finisher. It can OHKO some of the Pokemon out there like Crobat V, Eternatus VMAX, Mew V, Genesect V, and so on. With your constant healing, charging it manually can be a safe choice.

Why play it?

I try to play it because it is somewhat refreshing playing this kind of deck. The meta decks nowadays somewhat seem straightforward, you go big on damage, you win. This is not the case for this deck, you can outlive your opponent by constantly healing and if you charged enough, you can attack using its second attack to deal damage, and by looking at its damage, it’s a 2 turn attack for VMAX Pokemon and an instant KO for some V Pokemon. If you are getting bored with meta decks, you can try this deck instead.

Trainers

As this is a healing deck, you want to put as many as healing items you can find.

But, I only play 3 variants of healing items here which are Hyper Potion, Lucky Ice Pop, and Team Yell Towel. Why? We can heal ourselves by using Stonjourner VMAX’s first attack by 120HP. By relying on its first attack, we can cut our healing items and focus on other cards like Supporter, searcher, etc.

Kabu is an important supporter in this deck. Because you may only play 1 Pokemon in the entire game, having to draw 8 cards is a big drawing power considering you want to draw as many healing items as you can.

Avery on the other hand is a very good card if you are facing a full-board deck like Eternatus VMAX or Mew VMAX. You can make their bench short because of the Avery effect. Also, you get to draw 3 cards from the deck, so I think it is a very good card.

Adventurer’s Discovery is your one way of finding Stonjourner VMAX. But since it is a supporter, if you are using it, you are out of supporter for a turn so you need to think carefully. I try to play 2 copies of Evolution Incense to help me find Stonjourner VMAX.

Skyla is a conditional Supporter here so that’s why I only bring 2 copies of it. You can find any trainer by using it.

Training Court is the stadium that is used here because we can recycle our basic energy if we used Hyper Potion before.

Other than that, you can try to play Pokegear, Potion, or other healing items that may suit your playstyle.

Matchup

Since you will be likely to play only 1 Stonjourner VMAX the entire game, you are in a bad spot if you are facing an OHKO deck like Mew VMAX or Single Strike Urshifu VMAX. But since you have Full Face Helmet and Stone Energy, you are likely not to be knocked because of the damage reduction. But considering Mew VMAX quick setup, it can be deadly if you are not having any damage reduction in your early game.

Going second is also a bad spot, if you cannot deal with big damage from your opponent’s VMAX Pokemon, you are likely to be knocked even before you get to be a VMAX Pokemon.

Weakness can also be a problem here, you can be instantly knocked out if you are facing your weakness deck. I think you want to avoid it at all costs. But sometimes if your enemy is struggling you can try to finish the game as soon as possible. Although the deck is not the kind of deck to play early, if you are prolonging your game to the late game, it will surely guarantee your downfall unless your opponent miraculously Prized 4 of their core Pokemon.

Other than that, because this kind of deck is not a deck to counter specific Pokemon. Its main focus is to survive as many turns as you can. You can try to experiment with all kinds of decks to make sure you can get the hang of the deck.

Conclusion

So what do you guys think? You can heal all the way from having only 10HP left to a full HP in a single turn. But this deck is not suitable for people who want to try constantly to win every game because this deck has its own problems as well. But, there’s no harm in trying this deck because it is a very fun deck.
