New Japanese Set SV4K ‘Ancient Roar’ and SV4M ‘Future Flash’ Revealed! Get ready for the Ancient and Future mechanics!

Pokemon Card Game Japan officially revealed their new upcoming set SV4K ‘Ancient Roar’ and SV4M ‘Future Flash’ which will be released on October 27, 2023. Each booster pack will be priced at 180 yen and both sets will have 66 cards in each set. These sets will be a part of the upcoming international set, ‘Paradox Rift’ which will be released on November 3, 2023. These sets will introduce Future and Ancient mechanics while also featuring many Paradox Pokemon alongside them.

SV4K 'Ancient Roar'


Roaring Moon ex

DDC - Frenzied Gouging 

Knock Out your opponent’s Active Pokemon. If your opponent’s Active Pokemon is Knocked Out in this way, this Pokemon does 200 damage to itself. 

 

DDC - Calamity Storm 100+ 

You may discard a Stadium in play, if you do, this attack does 120 more damage.


Sandy Shocks ex

Ability - Magnetic Absorption

Once during your turn, if your opponent has 4 prizes remaining or less, you may attach 1 Basic Fighting Energy from your Discard Pile to this Pokémon.

 

FFC - Ground Spikes 200

This Pokémon can't attack during your next turn.


Scream Tail

P - Slap 30

 

PC - Roaring Scream

This attack does 20 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon for each damage counter on this Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.)


Slither Wing

F - Trample

Discard 1 card from the top of your opponent’s deck.

 

FF - Billowing Burn 120

This Pokémon does 90 damage to itself. Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Burned.


Brute Bonnet

Ability - Toxic Powder

Once during your turn, if this Pokemon has an Ancient Booster Energy Capsule attached, you may make both Active Pokemon Poisoned. 

 

DDC - Rampaging Hammer 120

During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t attack.


Ancient Booster Energy Capsule

Tool/Ancient

The Ancient Pokemon this card is attached to gets +60 HP recovers from all Special Conditions, and can't be affected by any Special Conditions.


Earthen Vessel

Item/Ancient

Discard 1 other card from your hand in order to use this card. Search your deck for up to 2 Basic Energy, reveal them, and put them into your hand. Then shuffle your deck.


Professor Sada’s Determination

Supporter/Ancient

Choose up to 2 of your Ancient Pokémon. Attach 1 Basic Energy from your Discard Pile to each Pokémon you chose. If you attached any Energy this way, draw 3 cards.


Mela

Supporter

You can play this card only if any of your Pokémon were Knocked Out during your opponent's last turn. Attach 1 Basic Fire Energy from your Discard Pile to 1 of your Pokémon. If you do, then draw cards until you have 6 cards in your hand.

Iron Valiant ex

Ability - Tachyon Bits

Once during your turn, when this Pokemon moves from your Bench to the Active Spot, you may put 2 damage counters on 1 of your opponent’s Pokemon. 

 

PPC - Laser Blade 200

During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t attack.


Iron Hands ex


LLC - Arm Press 160

 

LCCC - Sumo Surge 120

If your opponent's Pokémon is Knocked Out by damage from this attack, take 1 more Prize card.


Iron Bundle

Ability - Hyper Blower

Once during your turn, if this Pokemon is on your Bench, you may switch out your opponent’s Active Pokemon to the Bench. (Your opponent chooses the new Active Pokemon.) If you do, discard this Pokemon and all attached cards.

 

WCC - Refrigerated Stream 80

If the Defending Pokemon is an Evolution Pokemon, it can’t attack during your opponent’s next turn.


Iron Jugulis

CCC - Homing Heads

This attack does 50 damage to 3 of your opponent's Pokémon that already have any damage counters on them.\

 

CCCCC - Baryon Beam 150

If this Pokémon has a "Future Boost Energy Capsule" attached, it can use this attack for CCC instead.


Iron Moth

Ability - Thermal Reactor

Once during your turn, when this Pokemon moves from your Bench to the Active Spot, you may move any amount of Fire Energy from your other Pokemon to it. 

 

RRC - Heat Ray 120

During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t use Heat Ray.


Future Booster Energy Capsule

Tool/Future

The Future Pokemon this card is attached to has no Retreat Cost, and its attacks deal 20 more damage to your opponent’s Active Pokemon.


Techno Radar

Item/Future

Discard 1 other card from your hand in order to use this card. Search your deck for up to 2 Future Pokémon, reveal them, and put them into your hand. Then shuffle your deck


Professor Turo’s Scenario

Supporter/Future

Put 1 of your Pokémon into your hand. (Discard all attached cards.)


Tulip

Supporter

Put up to 4 in any combination of Psychic Pokémon and Basic Psychic Energy cards from your discard pile into your hand.


What do you guys think of these sets? I really hope we get to see another meta-breaking card in these sets while also debating which mechanic is the best. We get to see some pretty useful cards that can go into some of the current decks. I really hope we get to see more amazing cards in the next reveal.
