Hello guys, welcome back to another article on pokemoncard.io! Today I’m going to talk about a single-prize deck. It’s Deoxys from Fusion Strike!

Here’s an example of the deck:

This is just an example, if the deck didn’t work for you, you can try to experiment with it yourself and get comfortable with it.

Deck Overview

This deck revolves around Deoxys that can utilize all of the battle styles (Rapid, Single, and Fusion). You can charge with Elesa’s Sparkle, Houndoom, or Blaziken VMAX. You also have a drawing power with Tower of Darkness.

Deoxys

This is your first attacker. Deoxys is a unique card where it has 3 different battle styles on a single card. Therefore, we can utilize almost all of the engines in each battle style. Its attack also increases if we have Fusion Strike Energy attached. Also, since it is a Single Strike, you can attach a Single Strike Energy with Houndoom to further increase your damage. Then, since its attack cost is 3 Colorless energy you can also use Rapid Strike Energy to easily meet the attack cost.

Also, because Deoxys has 3 battle styles, you can use any battle style-specific Trainer cards like Power Tablet, Tower of Darkness, Tower of Waters, and so on. This can make you have a very big pool of cards for making your decks.

But, since it is a single-prize Pokemon, its HP base is a bit low and is susceptible to sniping. Even then, your prize trade can be in an advantageous spot if you manage to knock out your opponent’s VMAX Pokemon in 2 turns.

Blaziken VMAX

This is your conditional attacker. If you are short on energy because you cannot find it by drawing cards, you can use Blaziken VMAX’s second attack to attach it to Deoxys from your discard pile. But you need to remember that Blaziken VMAX can only be attached with Rapid Strike Energy.

Houndoom

This is your main accelerator. You can add your damage output by 20 for each Single Strike Energy and getting hurt is not much of a bother because single-prize Pokemon tend to get knocked every turn.

But, since this is a stage 1 deck, you want to set it up as fast as you can. Also, the Houndoom line can be used as fodder for drawing because Tower of Darkness is included in this deck.

Trainers

Elesa’s Sparkle is also an accelerator in this deck, but as we have Blaziken VMAX, Houndoom, and Rapid Strike Energy, it is not mandatory to bring 4 copies of it because you can utilize another supporter.

Bruno here is to get us fresh cards and since we play single-prize decks, a knockout is likely to occur every single turn. So, we get more fresh cards by playing him.

Karen’s Conviction here is optional but it can be a lifesaver if you are short on damage.

I also included 2 copies of Power Tablet because its role is almost the same as Karen’s Conviction when you are short on damage.

Tower of Darkness is our main draw power besides the Supporter.

Urn of Vitality is being included too because you can recycle your Single Strike Energy and use Houndoom again.

Other than that, you can try other cards like Pokegear, Pal Pad, or Fan of Waves. You can try to readjust the number of cards to your liking.

Matchup

Right now the single-prize deck is still a bit unstable in the meta because of how fast the game flows. But if you set up your board properly in your early turn, you still can compete as long you don’t brick.

As for facing meta decks, you will get the biggest advantage if you are facing Urshifu decks because of their weakness. But you may struggle if you are facing decks like Jolteon VMAX because it can snipe your Deoxys if you carelessly use Houndoom’s ability. Also, if you are facing 2 Prize decks like Suicune V, you need to be a bit more cautious because the prize trade can be a bit tricky.

Then, if you are planning to use Blaziken VMAX to attack, make sure your Blaziken VMAX is not getting knocked at the next turn. It can really hurt your momentum and prize trade if you cannot guarantee a knockout for yourself at your turn. Also, since it is a VMAX it gives 3 prize cards and you can suddenly be on the losing side.

Other than that, this deck can face Path to the Peak and even Galarian Weezing. But, since the single-prize deck is a bit unstable right now you may try to experiment with this deck yourself and find a comfortable composition.

Conclusion

So what do you guys think? This is a very fun deck because it is the first time that we have cards that have 3 battle styles in one Pokemon. You can try various techs that may work against your opponent.
