Today I’m going to talk about a deck that may be considered a fun deck but may be considered a threat if your opponent takes you too lightly. It’s Boltund VMAX paired with Vikavolt V!

Here’s an example of the deck:

This is just an example, if the deck didn’t work for you, you can try to experiment with it yourself and get comfortable with it.

Deck Overview

You want to charge your energy with Boltund V and Flaaffy so you can do considerable damage with your Boltund VMAX attack. Vikavolt V is also your optional attacker as it can stall your opponent by restricting them from playing Item cards.

Boltund VMAX

This is your first attacker. On paper, the attack seems good because if you amass enough energy, you can knock your opponent similar to Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX. But that’s where the problem starts, you only have Boltund V and Flaaffy to charge your energy.

Also, since it is weak to Fighting-type, Urshifu decks are always a threat and ready to knock your charged-up Pokemon.

Vikavolt V

This is the fun part of this deck. You can lock your opponent from playing any Item cards by using its first attack. By doing so, you can hold your opponent and try to charge your Boltund VMAX so it can do huge damage.

Also, you can use its second attack to make some huge early damage. Even though you discard 2 energies, you can recycle them back using Flaaffy. That’s why we bring Flaaffy engine.

Flaaffy

This is your energy engine. You want to recycle as many energies as possible to maximize your Boltund VMAX attack. Also, since it is a stage 1 and has 90HP, it is searchable by Level Ball.

But you need to be careful because of its low HP it can be an easy target for sniping decks.

Trainers

I try to play Zinnia’s Resolve here to help me discard Lightning Energy and also help me draw more cards.

Another supporter is a standard choice but you can try to play Raihan to help you attach energy from the discard pile and help you 1 one card from your deck.

Air Balloon is to help you retreat, normally you want to attach it to your Flaaffy or Crobat V. But almost all of them can be attached since their retreat cost is within the range of free retreat. Even if you attach it to Vikavolt V, you can retreat with 1 energy and you can recycle it back using Flaaffy.

Stormy Mountains is to help us call Basic Lightning Pokemon. It is very useful since it can fasten our early setup.

Speed Energy is for our draw power because we don’t play Inteleon line here so we need every bit of help to draw.

Other than that, you can try to add Fan of Waves to disrupt your opponent if they are playing Special Energy. Also, if you are confident in your coin flip, you can try to play Turbo Patch. You can try to experiment with the number of cards too to suit your playstyle.

Matchup

With its slow setup, every matchup with the meta decks seems a bit hard. But if you are facing Rapid Strike Inteleon decks or other decks with Lightning type weakness, you are at a very advantageous spot. Because you don’t even have to charge many energies to help you deal huge damage.

Also, disruption is not a big deal if you successfully set up your Flaaffy. But if your disrupted Pokemon is in the active, it can be a bit hard because Flaaffy’s ability only allows you to attach to the bench.

Then, if you fail to 2 hit your opponent’s VMAX Pokemon, you need to think of a way to make sure your active is not getting knocked. Because you could lose the prize trade if you get knocked first.

Other than that, because this deck is not a big powerhouse and can be categorized as a slow deck, you can try to lock your opponent first with Vikavolt V to successfully set up your Boltund VMAX. If you fail to do that, maybe you can give your Mareep or Flaaffy to prolong your Boltund VMAX.

Conclusion

So what do you guys think? This is still considered a powerful deck, but you need more time to set it up. With that reason in mind, that’s why this deck seems to have no chance in the current meta. But if you want to play this with your friend and to have some chill time, this deck can be very fun to play.
