The new incoming set of SV1V ‘Violet ex’ is already in the possession of some retailers and individuals in Japan. As a result, there are some Secret Rares circulating in the online market where they are auctioned. In Japan, the set will be made available on January 20, 2022.
Also, the pull rate of a single booster box from this set is confirmed by the official website of Pokemon Card Game Japan that we will be getting:
-
4x ex Pokemon
-
3x AR Pokemon
-
1x SR/higher cards
In the Scarlet and Violet era, the ex-mechanic will be reintroduced. The ex-mechanic is identical to the other Rule Box Pokemon in that if your Pokémon gets knocked, you will receive additional Prize cards. The ex-mechanic differs in that it must evolve from a regular Pokemon (if it is an Evolution Pokemon).
In these sets, Art Rare (AR) and Special Art Rare (SAR) are back with more cards to pull. Art Rare and Special Art Rare are first introduced in VSTAR Universe which is similar to Character Rare and Character Super Rare but has no Trainer in the artwork. In this set, it is confirmed to have:
-
12 Art Rare/AR
-
9 Regular Secret Rare/SR
-
5 Special Art Rare/SAR
-
2 Gold/UR
-
1 Terastal Secret Rare/SR
-
1 Gold/UR Energy
Pokemon Japan also released a promotional video about this set alongside SV1S ‘Scarlet ex’. You can check it here:
Make sure to pay the lowest price that is near the MSRP if you want to buy these Booster Boxes. The set often takes a week to a month to reach Europe or the United States.

Here is the complete list of the Secret Rares from SV1V ‘Violet ex’:
Art Rare/AR
Secret Rare/SR (Pokemon)
Secret Rare/SR (Supporter)
Special Art Rare/SAR
Gold/Ultra Rare/UR
If we dive deeper at the Arcanine ex SR, we can look that its design is quite similar to the Shiny SR V Pokemon but right now it has sparkles that correspond to its Tera-type. It also has a Crystal-like pattern as its background which is a great thing to emphasize its Terastalize.

Then, we also don’t have any Rainbow/HR cards anymore! I think this is a great move by Pokemon because if we go with the Special Art Rare (SAR), we can have more value to the cards due to its special artwork. However, unlike the previous SAR cards, the current SAR cards have a glittery texture quite similar to the HR cards which also adds its exclusivity.

What are your thoughts on this set, guys? I think with these kinds of Secret Rares, we are going to be in a very great era of modern Pokemon TCG (fingers crossed). I really like to see what rarity will Pokemon TCG have to surprise us even more in the future.
